We are proud to provide military honors to eligible veterans and service retirees at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Our mission is to pay tribute to those who have served our country with honor and bravery.
Upcoming Events
Bexar County Department of Military and Veterans Services in conjunction with Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery invite you to the upcoming Unaccompanied Veterans Memorial Service on Wednesday, 15 April 2026 at 0900 hours at the Assembly Area.
An Unaccompanied Veteran is someone who’s next of kin is unknown and/or burial arrangements have been made by a public administrator, a VA Medical Center, or any other authorized entity who is not the familial next of kin at the time of the Veteran’s passing. The National Cemetery Administration, in conjunction with our local government partner Bexar County and other Veteran Service Organizations, welcome these Veterans into our family to ensure they are never buried alone.

Veterans Legacy Memorial
VLM is an online memorial that honors more than 10 million Veterans interred in VA National Cemeteries, VA grant-funded cemeteries, DoD-managed cemeteries (including Arlington National Cemetery), U.S. Park Service National Cemeteries, American Battle Monuments Commission cemeteries, and thousands of private cemeteries where Veterans have received a VA-provided gravesite marker since 1996.
